2025 Hawaiian Fishing & Farming Moon Calendar
Through centuries of kilo – observations and recording the natural world – Hawaiians understood when to plant and harvest certain crops and when to catch certain fish. This calendar provides users with all the lunar information about the upcoming year including moon phases and recommendations.
The Hawaiian Moon Calendar was inspired and created through the research of the late Aunty Bobbee Mills-Diaz; and edited, updated and enhanced by Kalei Nuʻuhiwa. The PKHCC Hawaiian Moon Calendar displays lunar information including moon phase recommendations for planting and fishing. Traditionally, the Hawaiian calendar year starts with Makahiki, a time when ancient Hawaiians allowed the land to rest knowing the stormy season was ahead. The start of Makahiki season was signaled by the eastern rise of Makaliʻi (the constellation Pleiades) at sunset.
The Hawaiian lunar calendar starts during the Makahiki season. The lunar predictions were done carefully, based on years of interesting study making comparisons with tidal changes and other environmental differences utilizing references as noted below. It is our hope that you enjoy the 2025 moon calendar as prepared with information currently available.
